i haven’t posted a newsy thing for a while, i guess i haven’t had much to say.
i have nearly finished working for my parents, they’re training someone else now. i will spend the next couple of weeks cleaning my bedroom and finishing this web page and then slowly hitchhike across to melbourne (ie: i’ll take a bit more time than my 5 day dash in 1999).
bits and pieces will be hastily added to this site before i go… if you’ve got the time feel free to play with, add to and spell check as much as possible. i’m trying to get most of the bugs out before i go.
this page is complete, and i think the links pages and guestbot are finished. the next section to be uploaded will be the about pages.
Hitchhiking was originally a technique in which two people rode one horse. One would ride the horse a short distance, tie it to a tree, then start walking. The other person would arrive at the horse on foot and then ride it past the first rider (now walking), then tie it up and start walking. Soon the first person would get to ride the horse again, etc.
once again i’ve
(a) said i’ll do something for the UWA Guild
(b) left it to the last minute (past the last minute now), and now
(c) calling on friends to help out on this half-arsed idea
the idea was to add some material to the diary a la those quotes and/or ‘not many people know that…’ bits they have at the end of every week. the problem is those quotes have been done to death and i’d be surprised if they impress anyone anymore.
a better idea would be to have campus culture vulture bits at the end of every week, ie: required reading, viewing and listening for students at UWA… so i’ve added a few pages in the writing section called popular culture. i’m gonna add my favourites but i’ll also need your help to make sure the list isn’t 50 Frank Zappa albums, Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac and The Van (1977). hopefully over the next week or so we’ll gather enough entries for the diary… if not it’ll still be worth while cos these pages will stay on this web site for use by future generations.
“Australia is like a girl that has lost her viginity … and it’s come through the back door”
Robert (on the Bali bombing), about 3am 15th October, 6PR late night talk back show.
finding quotes of lunacy on late night talk back is like shooting fish in a barrel, but i thought this was quite funny cos it was said by the presenter.
due to popular demand careful scientist has become 18% bigger.
