Queens Pde Campaign

Posted by Bigg Daddy Wallbuxx | Filed under: News

Liberal Party LiarsThe poster campaign at Queens Parade has begun. Some flatmates were a little concerned that we might get a brick through the window but I don't anticipate any problems, Clifton Hill is in a very safe Labor seat… we are preaching to the converted but the window does face the tram line, a set of traffic lights and the Mosskito Bar, so hopefully we might ruin someone's lunch.

I found a really cheap place in Collingwood who do A0 photocopies for $2.81 (Copy World on the corner of Johnston and Hoddle for those in the area), so we will try to change the poster as often as possible before the election. I'm calling out to y'all for design/slogan ideas… naturally I will post photos of all posters here at kilbot.net, plus you'll get that warm-fuzzy feeling of publicly denouncing John Howard.

(Thanks to JohnHowardLies.com for the images).

That's good stuff right thar Mr Saints!
Howsabout Lil' John ("WHAT? OKAY! YEEAH!") and/or Mrs Lovejoy, with them boatpeople with the phrase:

"Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?"!

(would also work with $100,000 Degree!)

But please, no Uni-cliches, ie poo gags! (unless they involve realtime faecal matter = always funny!)

I like the children idea, BBZ.

Remember how Indiana Jones' catchphrase used to be "trust me"? It seems that little Johnny has taken that one to heart. But I'm not sure how you could make it a funny poster.

Maybe you could use "bring back the worm" somehow. Johnny doesn't like the worm, as it always turns against him when he's on 60 minutes. So he stipulated that there would be no worm this time.

    He's scared of the worm!!

The poster campaign is going well… I just received a text message from a friend who said the poster was clearly visible from the tram as she went past. This morning as I went to uni I could see people at the traffic lights looking at our window. And! Socialist Louisa™ implied that her friends thought it was ok… even to get a nod in the right direction from jaded, cynical socialists amounts to a roaring success.

But now we need a better one. I like the idea of a rodent and a worm, so I will work with that tonight, but more ideas are welcome.

    Here is the design brief:

Must be concise, three or four words max or a picture and one word.
Anti-Howard in tone, not necessarily pro-Latham. Our house contains people of different political persuasions (naturally), but we are united in our opposition to John Howard.
Kiddie Safe. Although Cunt usually follows Howard, I don't think that kind of language will aid our cause.
Mmmmm…

A picture of George W (caption: "Georgie") next to a pic of Johnny (caption: "L'il Georgie")?

  5. badger says:

Personally I've always found his use of green and gold tracksuit pants on his morning walks a particularly galling attempt to woo the working class voters. Maybe something involving them?

  6. fancy dave says:

How about the words "Children in Detention?" with a picture of Lil' Johnny smiling broadly? In that sickly, smug fashion we know so well. Only Costello can do it better.

    This could become a series, viz;

#2: "George Bush's Bum?" (with caption under JH reading "mmmm, finger lickin' good")

#3: "Sorry For What?" (with a little Aboriginal flag for the slowies)

More proverbialgoldfor the Johnny Bashers! - i think he made a good recovery tho when he jibed "well, don't be surprised if ya next turd has got eyes a!"

  8. Hamish says:

Strike a light! Do you live on teh crnr of Queens PDE and that little street that goes to Rushall Station? I go past that building on my bike most days, recognise the windows!!!!!!!

    Flip!

  9. killer says:

Yep, that's the one Hamish! Stop in for herbal tea and a discussion on brain chemistry some time.

you should seriously post the a0 sized pictures. or print one for me and bring it to soccer on sunday (you should come to soccer on sunday, manager-man). it would look good in my window, too — much better than the poxy lindsay tanner posters that the rest of my street has. living in a pinko electorate is such a new phenomenon.

  11. killer says:

sorry Matt, sorry Soccerates and most of all sorry to the Platonic Ideals… I had to miss soccer again. I keep having work to do, and I keep not doing it and each week ends with anger and excuses and self pity.

I will print you a poster this week sometime.

I will also try and slap up a new poster sometime soon. If only these lecturers would leave me alone… bastards… don't they know we are at war!
