A new compilation album in the works

Posted by badger | Filed under: News

Following the enormous success of Crap-Tel's first two compilation albums (“A Call to Arms” and “Songs Called Jump”), Matty Milner and I have decided that we need to release a third installment.

This new compilation is tentatively titled “Purse Your Lips: The World's Greatest Whistling Songs”.

We have a few hits lined up, but we need your help. Please tell us your favourite whistling ditties and help make this the biggest and best Crap-Tel release so far.

The beginning of our tracklisting:

Jealous Guy/John Lennon or Bryan Ferry

Love in Motion/Icehouse

Patience/Guns 'n' Roses

Winds of Change/The Scorpions

Alpha Beta Gaga/Air

So as you can see, we need your help. Let's hear it people. We want whistling, and we want it now.

the one that goes "skip to the lou my darling"

  2. badger says:

or maybe I meant "my darling clementine". yeah i think that's the one

  3. Big Willie Scotsman says:

I always catch meself whistling that old-time humdinger (name not known):

    "Fish Heads
    Fish Heads
    Roly Poly Fish Heads

    Fish Heads
    Fish Heads
    Doobie doobie doo"

  4. B-Diddy DubSac says:

"Groove In Da Heart" - Deelite

"Lazy Sunday Afternoon" - That MuthaPhukkin Corkney Bastard!

"Hitler - Has Only Got One Ball" - Artist Unknown

"Theme From He-Man" - DJ Cringer

"Who Let The Dogs Out/Accapella/Whistling Rmx" - Da Baha Girlie Men

Seriously, it gets pretty desperate after Scorpions who practically dominate this topic…

I think you should also research into starting a compilation "Plea For Clemency" as in, please god (sic), save me from this absolute tripe!

  5. KL says:

"Lazy Sunday Afternoon" is a good one, but maybe we should save that for the "Gits With Annoying Accents" compilation, featuring every Proclaimers tune ever, and also the Cranberries and The Corrs.

  6. Hordak says:

'Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay' - Otis Redding. Best whistling bit ever.

  7. KL says:

Thank you, Hordak. That is an insightful suggestion. How nice to have an intelligent visitor, rather than yet another of Blazin' Billy's schizoid personalities.

  8. fancy dave says:

    Billy Joel - "The Stranger".
I think that's a rival for Otis, but maybe just 'cos it goes right from soft piano and whistling into coked-up 70's stlye dirty guitar disco.

My ten cents worth… at least the only ten I've got on me at the moment.

  9. Skeletor says:

Good luck selling your "Best Of" compilation, what, with only 6 tracks on it, it should be a surefire cure for the blues…

Oh yes, and Hordak if you'd please return my text messages - there's the small matter of what we intend to do with Orca…:winky wink emoticon:

  10. Cringer says:

    <Whimper> I'm scared!

  11. Battle Cat says:

    ROOOAAAARRRR!

I'm gonna eat your bony bones, Skeletor!

  12. snout spout says:

  13. Barney says:

Man… this string really went to hell in a hurry.

  14. KL says:

    I blame Hordak myself. :@

  15. Stinkor says:

At the risk of the compilation becoming dominated by G'n'F'n'R's, one can't go past the intro to 'Civil War'.

Don't make me cut a dog in half, Perthlings.

  16. vadge-ra says:

a kinda similar whistlin' tune to civil war would be that bon jovi one from young guns II - you know the one that goes "take me oouuuutttttt in a blaaaaazzzzeeee of glooooorrrrrreeeeeey" where jon bon jovi holds a guitar in the film clip and doesn't play it most of the time and when he does it sounds like a banjo. Oh that's right it's called blaze of glory. And I suppose they're referencing [obliquely] the theme from A Fistful of Dollars (i think) scored by Ennio Morricone. You know the one I mean, it does "do do do".

  20. KL says:

    That's the shit, Kilbot.

  21. Barney says:

Looks like maybe we're a little late here people… http://www.ksharpie.com/index.php

"This Album cruises from the get-go, reshaping musical favorites from mainstream sources into beautiful nursery rhymes for royalty and the high class."

How do you compete with that? I mean Smells Like Teen Spirit, for Christ's sake!

  22. KL says:

    Feckin' hell! Nice find, Barns!

  23. Frammers says:

'ere, does usin' yer marf to make yer guitar sound funny count as whistlin', geezers?
