This post sort of flows on from the last one, and also ties in with the discussion about the addition of rantbots… but don't worry, I am not going to ask money for a gonzo journalism trip to South America to report on the cocaine habits of me… not yet.
I will be refitting this site over the next two months with the aim to have version 2 ready for the 19th of September, which also happens to be the 2nd anniversary of kilbot.net. Most of the changes will be cosmetic using some new HTML/CSS/PHP tricks I have learnt. There will also be a few new features, such as a cambot, which will be tested shortly. Seeing as though my university days are coming to their inevitable conclusion, I would like to take kilbot.net a little more seriously. If you have any suggestions for new additions, please leave a note in the comments.
I've been reading this blog over the last couple of months, which has been interesting in terms of getting a view of Iraq from the ground… but probably more interesting in terms of the possibilities of the web.
The basic history of Back To Iraq is this:
Last year, Chris Allbritton, a former AP and New York Daily News reporter, raised money from his blog readers to fund a reporting trip to Iraq. In a sense he was on the payroll of his readers to provide a unique perspective of events in Iraq during the invasion. A few months ago he returned to Iraq, again funded by readers of his blog… unfortunately he is also working for some news agencies at the moment so his entries are not as frequent as they used to be… but still, the idea of readers funding an 'independent' journalist is certainly an interesting one.
436 Queens hosted a 21st birthday party on Saturday for Louisa (one of the residents). Naturally Fancy, Curtis, G Wayne and myself were on hand to make sure things got out of control.
Someone had the presence of mind to take some photos (as opposed to Fancy's party where - unfortunately - such hand-eye coordination was not possible)… you can check out some of the photos in the gallery, you should especially check the photo of toasted G Wayne… he he, actually that is the only reason I posted those photos, sorry G Wayne.
umm.. that is all, I got to do some study.
